Building Your Web Site * Quick Start
What you need to have your site designed.
The following are the basic list of requirements needed to begin your web development project. Having these in hand will speed up the process and save time and budgetary requirements for your site.
Domain Name - Chance are that the domain name you want may already be taken. Be creative in picking something that will work. Keep in mind that the name should be easy to convey verbally and easy to type into a browser address bar.
Web Site Mission - What do you expect or desire your web site to do for your benefit? There are many companies that have sites, but no clear goal for the site.
A General Outline - If you use a standard outline form, you can see how your site will flow and make it easier to build a coherent menu system for the site.
A General Idea of Tone - Obviously a bank will demand a more somber tone than a site about the circus. The tone should fit your business. Do you have colors that you consistently use in your advertising?
Company Logos - These should be of a quality that can be reproduced via scanner or submitted by digital media.
Text - Text should be submitted by disk or email, preferably in RTF Text format, but most formats will work. We can also scan and OCR your documents submitted on DTM (Dead Tree Media {paper}) at extra expense.
Definition of Goals - Are you offering an information site, an e-commerce site, database driven site, etc? Are you planning on frequent updates?
Marketing Plan - Please think about marketing your site in the same way you plan advertising. Some things work - others do not. We can help you plan a marketing strategy that will make the site work for you.
